“Once the travel bug bites there is no known antidote, and I know that I shall be happily infected until the end of my life” ― Michael Palin
A slower paced day today with a massive lunch, a castle visit and a stroll through the park, finishing with a promenade under the Peace Arch.
Italians know how to eat ! Cotoletto is the Italian name for schnitzel and they claim it as an Italian invention from way before Austrians had even thought of Weiner Schnitzel. Apparently Romans ate thinly sliced meat, breaded and fried. Whatever the origins it was good! Although we slightly over ordered.

Sforza Castle (Italian: Castello Sforzesco) built in the 15th century by the Duke of Milan, it has a massive courtyard in the middle and backs on to the lovely Sempione Park, with lots of cool shady spots for those cool Milanese people

Napoleon has a big presence in Milan, statues are everywhere and the church even named a saint Napoleon. Milan has an arch to rival the Arc de Triomph in Paris called Arco della Pace (“Arch of Peace”) commissioned by Napoleon in 1807. Although it is certainly a lot quieter than its Parisian cousin.
Looks tops! Do they reckon they invented baguettes as well?
I’m loving the travel quotes – keep them coming, please!

I think Italy France might be a bit like the Australia New Zealand thing, but the Italians have taken on Austria as well !
Megan laughed at my quotes, and I said “Tracy and Ian will like them” 😆
